The September Issue

I will have to start with an apology.

The last newsletter was apparently a bit grumpy that even my mother (Hi Mum!!) mentioned she was slightly concerned about me. So I am sorry for the miserableness that it was. It won’t happen again.

So, can you believe we’re nearly at the end of the noughties and the teenies (I doubt that’s the official word for the 2010s) are just around the corner. I’ve already seen one of those compilation of the decade things on TV. It’s been quite an eventful decade I have to say: I set up my own business, I had a shop, I shut a shop. But all in all it’s been the most amazing time and that all the support and nice words from you out there have made the hard work worthwhile. So a BIG BIG thank you to you all.

Since the festive season is just upon us, we have a few treats in store for you, so please make sure you read on:

Thorsten’s 12 days of Christmas

Thorsten van Elten and the Brompton Design District are excited to announce the arrival of ‘Thorsten’s 12 days of Christmas – POP UP Shop’ which will open it’s doors (or roller shutter!).

Alongside all the old Thorsten van Elten favourites like Pigeon Light by Ed Carpenter, Antlers by Alexander Taylor, Plant Cup by Gitta Gschwendtner and taz ah by Attua Aparicio, there will also be a great selection of other selected items. Cushions, Scarves and Creatures by Donna Wilson, Children’s toys and accessories by Our Children’s Gorilla, the revolutionary upside-down SKY Planters by BOSKE and many more exciting products for the whole family.

Each day will have a very limited special offer that is not to be missed, celebrating our very own 12 days of Christmas (we are open for only 12 days after all).

We will also be part of the Brompton Design District late night shopping event on Thursday the 3rd when we are open til 8pm, serving Glühwein and Lebkuchen!! Some of our designers will be present that evening.

We look forward to seeing you there.

It's been in the pipeline for quite some time now but since it's the end of a the decade, this will be your very last Thorsten van Elten newsletter. No, don't panic, we're not disappearing completely. I am passing over to my new alter ego THEO. We still have got a horrendous amount of work to do but never shying away from hard work (I don't want to hear anyone laugh at this point!!) we take it on and aim to conquer!

We have a lot of plans for THEO who will be taking over and replacing the Thorsten van Elten online shop as we want to concentrate on the production and distribution side. We hope to be up and running some time early in the new year with some very exciting new products and features. Anyway, more about THEO in the NEW YEAR.

But for now the old Thorsten van Elten online shop will remain so feel free to shop shop shop.

Which also brings me very nicely to our last topic:

It’s Chriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!

Again!!! Or Winter Festival as some are trying to re-brand it, so here are a few suggestions for those who need some inspiration. We tried to help out with some presents for those difficult people:

The Grump
Honesty Stamp ‘ Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and all that crap’

The Ornithologist
Donna Wilson’s Robin or Owl Cushion

The Opthamologist
Innervision Mirror

The Anarchist
Children Unite Poster

The Artist
Still Life

The Gardener
Hemding

The Saint & The Sinner
Good China Bad China

The DIY Enthusiast
Screwhead/Dovetail tape

The Single
Solitaire

And if you still haven’t found anything you should seriously re-evaluate your relationship with them!!!

Ok, we better get on with preparing for a VERY busy December and I very much hope to see you for a festive cheer.

Have the most marvellous Christmas and enjoy what’s left of this decade. THEO will see you in 2010!!!

Cheeri ho ho ho.

Thorsten
