Beauty is in the detail

Beauty is in the detail and there are some magnificent details in the Albrechtsburg in Meissen.

Not only is Albrechtsburg the oldest castle in Germany, it is also the apparent birthplace of European porcelain manufacturing when in 1708 Johann Friedrich Böttger together with Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus finally managed to get the mixture right to produce hard, white and vitrified European porcelain. Two years later, in 1710, the world famous Meissen Porcelain Factory was founded who produced all of their wares in the Albrechtsburg until they moved to a different site in the city in 1863.

Here are a few more picture of some of the wonderful details in the Albrechtsburg.
